"A meticulously engineered transfer
that, in effect, created a new negative and beautifully brought back
the sheen of the original color." -Richard Christiansen, The
Chicago Tribune David
Lean's sumptuous Technicolor drama, about an American woman's
affair with a married Italian man, is one of the most beautiful movies
ever made. In this exclusive restoration, as in the theatrical
release, the canals and pensiones of Venice shimmer with a magical
light. Star Katharine Hepburn looks gorgeous. This edition was pieced
together the original Technicolor masters. Then, an internegative
constructed from those masters was carefully restored. Finally, a new
transfer was made from this internegative. The result is breathtaking!
