A sadistic prep school headmaster terrorizes his students, brutalizes
his wife, and beats his mistress. The two abused women drown
Delassalle in a bathtub and dump his body in a swimming pool. But when
the pool is drained, no corpse is found. The murderesses panic, driven
to wits' end as they try to discover what really happened to
Delassalle. Henri Clouzot's horror classic is an acknowledged
influence on Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.
