Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren blaze up the screen in one of the

the 11th century Spanish hero Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar, aka El Cid, who
freed Spain from the Moors, the film is a lush exercise in sight and sound. Directed by Anthony Mann, El Cid features
lavish settings, elaborate battle scenes, and an exhuberant score by
Miklos Rosza.
