By turns touching and shocking, Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights is the most unlikely of family dramas, set against the background of the golden age of the porn industry. Hardcore auteur Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds) is the patriarch of a production company riding the success of star/earth mother Amber Waves (Julianne Moore), and young Dirk Diggler (Mark Wahlberg). Featuring a stellar ensemble cast, writer/director Anderson probes a lip-glossed subculture for a tale that is both hilarious and disturbing.
