Brando plays Paul, a middle-aged man seeking isolation from his pain
through brutal and highly erotic sex with the much-younger Jeanne (Maria
Schneider). Last Tango has been subject to much censorship and controversy
in the United States. Criterion is proud to present the uncut European version
of this important film, with improved and more accurate subtitles. This
edition also features a digital film to tape transfer supervised by the film's
cinematographer, Vittorio Storaro.
