The title comes from a French phrase meaning "to raise hell." The story, about a young runaway, comes from director Francois Truffaut's own stormy childhood.

Criterion's edition offers a new widescreen transfer, new subtitles, the theatrical trailer, and audio commentary by co-screenwriter Marcel Moussy, film scholar Brian Stonehill, and Truffaut's lifelong friend Robert Lachenay.
